Happy Summer Solstice! 🌞 Today is the longest day of sunshine all year long. What are you going to do with that extra daylight? Despite the heat, I may enjoy an evening walk in the park and outdoor yoga practice. After all, today is also International Day of Yoga!
These past several days of holidays have felt pretty amazing. Can you feel it too?
I wish you the blessings of this powerful moment – light, wisdom, freedom and more! 🌈🌟

Several times this winter, I've found myself wanting to go into hibernation mode, staying in and filling my days with sleeping, eating and streaming. Does the winter bring on fatigue and sluggishness for you too? Perhaps a winter vacation or staycation would have been nice. But instead, I powered through, meeting deadlines and reaching new goals. My secret to beating that winter sluggishness is getting outside for brisk walks in the sun and yoga! ☀️🧘🏾♀️ Both these activities greatly boost my energy and mood. And it doesn't take much. Research shows spending 20 minutes outside 3 times a week reduces stress and boosts mood, cognition and memory. So get outside and feel better! 🤸🏽♀️🌼🦋🌳 And if you can't spare 20 minutes, start with 10 minutes. Every bit helps! The same thing is true for yoga - even a little bit makes you feel better. I often practice yoga at night after spending most of the day sitting at my desk. My night practices may be as short as ten minutes, but they have a HUGE impact on my mood and my body, working out the day's tension, stress and muscle aches. And yoga before bed makes my sleep much sweeter! 🧘🏾♀️🛌 Log on and practice online yoga with me on Saturdays at 12:30pm Central. We're doing a yoga practice followed by breath work and a guided meditation. Come experience how just a little bit goes a long way! My yoga classes are perfect for beginners, those who are "out of shape" and the self-proclaimed inflexible. So just come! 😂 Camp Reel Girl Power mixes movement, mindfulness and movie magic!

The 2020 Election had a lot of us on edge. To help mitigate the stress, I created an Election Meditation video to help us de-stress and chill while waiting on those results to come in. It was a nail bitter! 😆 Try this meditation to calm your nerves and bring some peace! Then hit me up and let me know if you enjoyed it. Lots of Love, Anietie In the summer of 2020, Heart of Love Yoga and Shaken World Screenworks created Camp Reel Girl Power, an online, summer camp for girls ages 10 - 17. Camp Reel Girl Power is all about empowerment - building self-esteem, self-love and transforming young lives through the power of movement, mindfulness and movie magic. During our Summer 2020 camp, we had 16 warm, amazing, smart, talented girls join us for the journey. It was a real pleasure getting to know each one of them - their dreams, personalities and special traits. I love my Reel Girls so I want them to have the best future possible. In an effort to get out the vote, the Reel Girls and I created a PSA to encourage everyone to vote in the 2020 Election. The Reel Girls had a simple and powerful message - vote! Our votes create their future. I couldn't be more proud of the work these young ladies did! They used what they learned in camp and shot their own videos for the PSA. And they pulled it off under a tight deadline, once again showing their determination and dedication. Please watch the video below featuring some of our very lovely, talented Reel Girls from Summer 2020. Hoping for a great, bright future for each one of them. ♥️🌈🌟 I can't believe it's that time of year again! Time to pull out the notebooks, binders and backpacks. Oh, wait...maybe your student doesn't need a backpack at all because school is at your dining room table thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here we are entering a new school year with so much uncertainty. Don't we wish we could magically make it go away and get back to the old normal?
Home schooling, as many parents have learned, is hard work and takes a tremendous amount of patience and special skills. And many of us now realize just how hard teachers work and how they are terribly underpaid. If you are working from home while your child is attending school from home, the stress of working, schooling and parenting all at the same time can be overwhelming. And it isn't easy for your little ones either. They are missing the fun of social interaction with friends and peers, hands-on learning in the classroom, sports and extracurricular activities and just being out and about. All this time at home during the pandemic can increase stress, anxiety, isolation and old school cabin fever. One of the best ways to reduce stress and anxiety is practicing yoga. This fall, Heart of Love Yoga will offer more opportunities for you and your little to get moving and have some fun through yoga. Stay tuned! You won't want to miss it! ANNOUNCING REEL GIRL POWER!
At Heart of Love Yoga, we love our youth and think they're pretty special. So, we created something special for them - Reel Girl Power. Reel Girl Power is all about empowerment - building self-esteem, self-love and transforming young lives with the power of movement, mindfulness and movie magic. This summer, Reel Girl Power is offering our first online camp for girls and young women, ages 10 to 17. The camp is a fun blend of creative games, yoga, dance, self-discovery, writing, photography and filmmaking. During our Camp Reel Girl Power experience, participants will learn the basics of film production and create experimental, documentary films using collaborative filmmaking and reflection on self-acceptance and self-love. Camp runs July 15th - August 14, 2020. Learn more about Camp Reel Girl Power at ReelGirlPower.com. The COVID-19 pandemic is unlike anything most of us have experienced. Sure, we’ve read about pandemics in history books. But, right now, being quarantined in our homes, away from our friends and family and wondering when life will return to normal is far, far too real.
This time of great uncertainty naturally triggers anxiety and stress for many of us. While it’s important for us to stay home to protect our health, we also need to find healthy ways to cope while sheltering in place. One of the best and easiest ways to reduce and manage stress and anxiety is to practice yoga and meditation. These practices are known for boosting our resiliency and immunity in tough times as well as boosting our immunity. And both are extremely important at this time. So, to keep us connected, healthy, moving and feeling better, I’m offering FREE, online yoga classes and mindful meditations. These will be very gentle, easy yoga practices perfect for all levels, especially beginners. 😃 If you’d like to take part in these classes, please email us at [email protected] and we'll send you the link to join.
